Hello, I bring you tidings of story!

Title: Everything Arrives at the Light
Author: Salieri [livejournal.com profile] troyswann
Length: ~1400w
Fandom: Being Human
Pairing: none, just friends, Annie, Mitchell, George
Note: The title is from a collection of poems by Lorna Crozier. And this story sort of arises from something Herrick tells George in Series 1, episode six, about Mitchell being able to handle George's Star of David: "It has to do with you."

Sal asked me to post a link here because the prompt for this story is somewhat related to one that you asked for once: "a wolf at the synagogue door." This story isn't strictly to that prompt, and technically speaking, it's a story for Cofax's birthday; however, and you were also on her mind as she wrote.

Thus, with the caveat that Sal is still working on your actual prompt, this story is also for you, with her regards, admiration and hope for better days.

Split into two posts to speed up the loading; each post has about 8 medium-sized images. (I couldn't bring myself to cut it down any more ... they're just such a pretty bunch!)

My fiction-brain, she is still dead. But I hope you get some amusement out of this, anyway...

Your friendly neighborhood fic pimp, having being pimped into Being Human with the promise that it would explore the 'found/chosen family' theme like crazy, is here to point to some excellent stories.

For those who are unfamiliar with Being Human, here are the stats:

BBC television show airing six episodes so far, not counting the original pilot (which used a slightly different cast.)

It features three apparent 20-somethings with few connections to the greater world, except each other. They are all striving to accept or become something larger than has been thrust upon them, and without exception, they need the others' support to do it well.

They are Annie, George and Mitchell; ghost, werewolf and vampire; woman of color, Jew and Irish (does Irish count? I get the feeling they're doing something complex and British with class and nationality as well as race) The lives they are striving for are so simple and beautiful and small and alive.

And did I mention it's been picked up for series 2? Also that Hollywood is optioning an American version? I love the BBC's version, myself, and it would take you only six episodes to try it out, so! You should give it a whirl, is my point, and then write stories. Yes.

On to the fanfiction recommendations! )

It's possible that you've seen some or all of these before, but they're always good for a re-watch!

My Favorite Farscape Vids

  • Scorpy Went Down to Georgia by Dallascaper: This is one of the first Farscape vids I ever saw, and the first one I ever loved. Its conceit is clever, its execution masterful. I remain utterly delighted with it.

  • Right Here, Right Now by [livejournal.com profile] tazey: the first three seasons of Farscape, in all their hilarity and pathos, are exquisitely captured in this mostly-instrumental dance track by Fatboy Slim. The song has become a favorite of mine thanks to this vid, and whenever I hear it I think of Farscape and get happy. Bonus: the link above goes to her Farscape vid and fic page, where there's lots more goodness to enjoy.

  • Ecstatic Drum Trip by [personal profile] luminosity: Absolutely breathtaking in its movement, scope, and overall impact. It puts you right inside the wormhole, and what a wild ride it is.

  • About Schroeder by [livejournal.com profile] jarrow: I've always believed in a not-very-alternate reading of the show where Chiana's in love with John. Chiana's my girl, and I don't think I've ever felt for her more than watching this vid. Lovely, elegant, and heartbreaking.

  • Moving Right Along by [livejournal.com profile] sdwolfpup: This is a relentlessly cheerful vid celebrating John and D'Argo's friendship, and I defy any Farscape fan not to grin like a loon while watching it.

I hope you feel better soon, Rydra. We miss you out here.

This is the place to post if you don't have a DW account (you can follow the community and read locked posts with OpenID, but you can't post). You can post as much as will fit in a DW comment -- they're long! -- or just a brief message.

You can also post something here if you feel that you don't have enough for an individual post, but would like to leave a message anyway. (But I do encourage people to make individual posts even if you just have a picture or a link or two!)
